Patent Legal Coach
Version 1.4 - Available December 9, 2009

View the full patent statute (Title 35 of the U.S. Code), patent rules from the Code of Federal Regulations (Part 1 of Title 37), and a helpful breakdown of the most relevant provisions for easy access.

The goal of this App is for inventors to understand federal application requirements (searches, drawings, claims, and the written description).

The Guide is broken down into categories for searches, application, drawings, claims, data sheet, oath & declaration, joint inventors, public accessibility, designs, plants, fees, and infringement.

Flip between three tabs to read provisions from the organized guide, statute, and CFR without scrolling back.

Claims from famous inventions are included: computer mouse, television, light bulb, 1-Click online shopping, music playlists, telephone, and airplane.

The CFR consists of five parts. The entire first part (most important for inventors) is included to provide the patent rules. For example, the U.S.C. merely states that drawings should be provided when necessary. The CFR describes the content of the drawings, such as how to submit partial views and margin size.

Important quotes from leading U.S. Supreme Court Cases and the MPEP are included to explain the nonobviousness requirement to patentability.

For purposes of a mobile device, the navigation menu titles are abbreviated and paraphrased to fit on the screen. Full titles are listed in the textual display when a item is touched.

Michael Elliot Byczek is a licensed attorney in the State of Illinois and formally trained computer science professional. He is in the process of registration with the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

The U.S.C. is current as of November 30, 2009 based upon The Office of the Law Revision Counsel (LRC) classification tables. The C.F.R. is current as of November 30, 2009 (GPO e-CFR). The Fees reflect the USPTO schedule that was available on December 3, 2009.
